THE VILLAGES

 Aldea de Santa Fe

Aldea de Santa Fe

When I was driving back from Santa Fe, I saw the sign "Aldea," and I thought, "Village!" because it means that in Spanish. It turned out that "Aldea" referred to a planned village rather than a traditional one. Built in Santa Fe style and laid out over the hills, it provides homes for perhaps at least a thousand people. Though I did not see the plaza during my visit, a Google search informed me that there was indeed one. I stopped at a little place on the main road called Café Aldea and enjoyed a piece of pie and a chat with the owner, who spoke with an East Indian accent and came from Uganda.
